The only downside is that there is no audible notification when the coffee is ready, however, this has not hindered my enjoyment of the product. I regret buying this product, as after only three weeks of use, the heating plate began to peel. The basket filter was difficult to clean and the reservoir was too small, leading to constant spills. I switched over to a Mr Coffee product and have been much happier with it. I would not recommend this product.
